Linda Edna Cardellini's parents include businessmen Wayne David Cardellini and Lorraine (Hernan). She was born at Redwood City in California. She comes from Italian, German (from the paternal grandmother), Irish and Scottish descent. Linda lived in San Francisco Bay region, California being the eldest from four children. She began her interest in acting as a ten year old, after she performed a singing role in a school Christmas play. She began her career as an actress in British actor in Just William (2010), a British series on British television. Cinderella (2015) became her debut film after she was the lead actress in Lady Rose MacClare (2012-2015) in Downton Abbey, a period television drama. James later played the role of the Countess Natasha Rostova as part of the television adaption of War & Peace (2016). Also, she appeared in numerous films including Baby Driver (2017) and The Dig -2021. We Go Back Again (2018) as well as Yesterday (2019). Her performance as Pamela Anderson in the biographical show Pam & Tommy (2022) earned her nominations for the Golden Globe and a Primetime Emmy Award.
